Bali
A Spiritual Journey
Bali is located in the 13,000 island Indonesian archipelago that stretches from Malaysia to Australia. It is an exotic island that mixes tranquility, natural beauty, unique culture and interesting activities - a perfect honeymoon combination.
Days can be spent out on the water, relaxing poolside or exploring a plethora of inland sights. Hike through verdant rice paddies, bike between small crafts villages, play golf in the crater of a volcano, spot local monkeys, or partake in colorful celebrations. No matter how you choose to spend your time, you will always be surrounded by Bali's warm and inviting culture.
There is no other honeymoon destination quite like Bali anywhere in the world.
Just the Facts
Best suited for:
Couples desiring a variety of activities and relaxation in an exotic environment. Those who enjoy local culture and natural beauty. Those who want to experience some of the most romantic (and original) hotels in the world. Those looking for a bit of nightlife.
When to go:
Tropical year round. Temperatures in the 80s F (~30C) during the day and mid 70s F (~24C) at night. May - October is the driest and sunniest period of the year. The busiest and most expensive time to visit is mid-July through the end of April. You may want to consider visiting off-season if you're not averse to occasional afternoon downpours during "monsoon season" (December - March). For less tourist traffic, avoid Asian and Australian "school holidays" (December and June).
Accommodations:
Bali's interesting accommodation choices range from charming "losmen" (pension-type properties) to world-class resorts. You can stay in the lap of luxury where your room might resemble a Balinese "compound," often including an outdoor pavilion for relaxing, a villa for sleeping, a private indoor/outdoor bathroom and your own plunge-pool. Shower underneath the stars, surrounded by palms! Of course, Bali has more modest accommodations as well, usually incorporating unique architectural elements and standard amenities. For the more independent, consider renting a private villa.
Dining:
Indonesian specialties abound, usually in conjunction with Chinese and Western offerings. The top restaurants are often located in upscale hotels. Wonderful local establishments, with charm and great food, can be found in most towns. Most dining is open air. Be careful when eating from street vendors for fear of "Bali Belly".
Special Activities:
Observe local culture - temple ceremonies, Balinese dance, crafts and architecture. Enjoy the service and amenities of some of world's finest hotels. Hiking, biking and other outdoor activities - the scenery is phenomenal.

Why Bali
Reasons to choose Bali:
A totally unique local culture found nowhere else; vibrant art and architecture unmatched in Asia; a wide range of activities. Lush, dramatic and tranquil natural scenery. The ability to combine pure relaxation with incredible exploration opportunities.
Reasons to choose someplace else over Bali:
There are better destinations for those desiring beach (and water sport) vacations. If you might not be comfortable immersed in a very different foreign culture for any length of time. Reaching Bali from the US and Europe requires significant time in transit. Finally, consider going elsewhere if you are looking for a place untouched by tourism.
